5EXTREMELY durable and compact enough to fit in a suit case  Jan 19, 2008 By Kim Mahahual "mmbkim"
I ordered this paddle 2 years ago. It has been a great paddle and shows no wear, despite the fact that I own a beach front hotel on the Costa Maya in Mexico ([...]) and guests use it every day, even pushing themselves from shore (which makes me cringe.) I wouldn't be writing this except that we were hit by a category 5 hurricane on August 20th of 2007 -- Hurricane Dean. We had stored the kayaks and paddle in one of our cabanas. The Cabana was totally destroyed and collapsed, but the kayaks and this one paddle make it despite a ton of concrete on top of it. We were amazed. The tether was wound around a tree, but the paddle stayed in one piece and not even a nick. The other paddle we had was washed out to the jungle and snapped in two. The other benefit to this paddle was that I purchased it in the US and had a friend bring it down in the luggage. It was small enough to do that. Another paddle which was in two parts, required purchase of an $80 extra handling fee by the airlines!!!!! All in all -- this is a great paddle - and comforable and lightweight too. Forgot to mention that!
