5Awesome ride!!!  May 20, 2007 By La Grande Baker "LGB"
I just purchased this kayak and tried it out on the Nantahala River in western NC last week. Amazingly fast! Slices right through the whitewater with ease, not tippy at all. Handles great, and I am a novice kayaker, so it would be a great product for beginners. The only complaint is the backrest, it's not very comfortable. I am looking for something to substitute there. I had it positioned where my legs had plenty of room, and the balance and weight distribution were ideal, yet my lower back was not happy at the end of several hours of paddling. It's easy to inflate, took me only about 5 minutes with a hand pump. Overall, I'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting fun on a river or the ocean.

5Very pleased with the AE Straitedge kayak  Sep 10, 2009 By K. Saucier
We purchased a pair of one man AE Straitedge inflatable kayaks and just took them out for their maiden voyage. Paddled up a calm river a couple miles and back down again and really were pleased with them.
With the dual action hand pump, they go up quickly. We got one with a gauge so we know when we reach the proper psi for the different sections. The kayak comes pretty much assembled so you just inflate and go. Just be sure you inflate it enough. We found it inflates more evenly in the ends (bow & stern)if you alternate filling air in the two outer sections until you get to full inflation.
Very stable. Fun to manuever compared to our canoe days. Easy to get into. Hardest part is getting out when you are sitting ground level compared to a canoe.
Plenty of places to clip things on to secure them.
One tip - be sure it is totally dry in every little corner before packing away. Inflate at home and let sit to dry a couple days and inspect well. Moisture can hide and cause mold.
Second trial coming in another week - yippee.

5Awesome!  Jun 10, 2009 By A. Lively "pagan spider queen"
I have had this kayak for two months now, and have had it on both flat and whitewater. It is so comfortable (other than the backrest, which doesn't give much support) and easy to use. I only recommend that when buying a paddle for this kayak, that it be 230 cm in length or greater as the kayak is wider than most.

It rides so well, feels secure and is very durable. I got it caught on a rock in a rapid, had to swim out and then throw rope it in. It went over the rock, and several others as well as a small tree and came out of the water without even a scuff or scratch. And it's rated for up to class III whitewater, so you can take it almost anywhere.

I love it and I recommend it to anyone interested in inflatable kayaking.

5Loved it so much I bought another!  Jan 23, 2009 By Old River Rat
I have a Straight Edge 2 and love it, but in order to keep my marriage happy I thought it best to get another so we each would have one of our own. Two Captains on one ship ......not so great! Anyway...we have run into snags, rocks, anything that we could possibly run into on the river and not one problem. This thing should have popped on at least a few of our wipe outs but no, it's intact and still in near perfect condition. It takes class 3+ rapids like a champ and is easy to climb back into when you want to, or have to, swim. I would recommend a Straight Edge 1 or Straight Edge 2 for anyone wanting a great river adventure.
Be sure to open the self bailers before the rapids!

5I love this kayak!  Aug 29, 2010 By Justnes "Justnes"
First time kayak user. I needed a serious kayak that I can carry around. I flew it to Key West and had a blast paddling it around the shallow waters of the FL Keys. Looks to be a pretty perfect boat for a 5'3" tall female. I have it up in Canada now and sometimes wind gusts get pretty vicious but this baby has no issue keeping you moving in the right direction, beats the heck out of a canoe..Before I hated going out when windy, not anymore, it is kind of fun battling the wind and waves.

My only negatives are:
-After each ride, drying up is a must. Otherwise you will have a very mildewy kayak.
-The self draining plugs seem a bit useless as it is very hard to get to them when the kayak is inflated.
-Not all inflation plugs are the same. The bottom one is different and rather hard to inflate.
