| | Description | The Carlisle Magic Plus' fiberglass-filled polypropylene blades in bright colors are lightweight and durable. The asymmetrical, slightly spooned blade shape combined with a lightweight, flexible fiberglass shaft produces smooth yet powerful strokes. The wound fiberglass shaft provides a sweet compromise between the stiffness needed for a strong paddle stroke and the flex needed to reduce stress on your joins. The fiberglass-filled polypropylene blades offer an unbeatable balance of lightweight versus durability. This is a paddle that can take all of the punishment you dish out and give you a great day on the water. Colors available: Sunrise and Cloud. Lengths available: 220cm, 230cm, and 240cm. | |

Great paddle although its price was the same as the Suggested Retail by manufacture Feb 06, 2010
By Richard Vertz I believe I could have gotten a few dollars break by researching more and not buying the product right of way. It is a very well made paddle and love the feel. It seems of high quality. Shipped fast and no problem s with delivery.
It will be used with my new Ocean Kayak Prowler 13 fishing kayak. It is nice addition to my fishing equipment. Quality is a must for me. You won't be disappointed in this product. I am not.

Great paddle for the price Mar 10, 2011

I bought one of these paddles last summer for use with a 10.5 foot fishing kayak. I was able to get one for a great price, about 35% the retail shown here. Any, I've used it several times in flatwater and rapids situations and I do not regret this purchase one bit. The angle of the paddles are adjustable to fit your style, I find the standard angle setting to work for me.
My kayak is pretty wide and I purchased the 220cm version and I have no problems getting the blades into the water comfortably and a 10 mile paddle we did was easily accomplished with much less fatigue than with my previous paddle because of the light weight and shaped paddle head.
However, nothing is perfect, and this paddle has two minor flaws that I've noticed. First, the drip rings don't stop wall the water from tunning down the shaft of the paddle. They minimize it, and 95% of the time that's enough, but in winter cold river water on your hands is not super fun. Also the paddle occasionally flutters if you really give it the gas, but just the first couple strokes and after that it settles down nicely.
Neither of those two problems are in any way big enough to make me even think about switching paddles. I wouldn't mind using a Magic Plus the rest of my life, it's a great all around paddle for a recreational kayaker like myself, And I would reccommend it to any of my friends that need a kayak paddle.

Good - Not Nirvana Nov 28, 2011
By Rock of Ages I have a number of different paddles that are used with different kayaks in different situations. The 'Magic Plus' is a fine, lighter weight general purpose paddle. It is not a paddle that makes you stop looking for something better.
The fiberglass shaft is comfortable with a decent grip diameter (for me at least). The 'machining' where the two halves fit together has a little looser fit than I'm accustomed to, but it apparently causes no problems. I'm hardly a power paddler, but even so there is occasional 'flutter' in the blade when accelerating. If I were to pick a single area for improvement, it would be to increase the blade rigidity.
Despite, the nitpicking above, as often as not this is my 'go to' paddle for regular use.

Quality for price Oct 20, 2011
By pkano86 You will not find a fiber glass paddle of this quality for this price.
Don't forget to research the proper length of paddle for your height. I read that you should just be able to wrap the tops of your fingers over the top of the paddle while it is standing lengthwise in the air.
I bought this as a gift, and it was a bit too long for the person's height (but not by enough to return).
