4Hard work for your pleasure  Sep 16, 2005 By Eva P Moldovanyi
The boat is great, but it took the better part of an hour to fill. And, when we were done playing at the beach, it was not an easy task to deflate.

My main complaint about the purchase is that the boat did not come with a pump (I would have gladly paid extra for it), nor did it come with a recommendation for a particular pump. I ended up having to rush-purchase a bellows pump, which turned out to be inadequate. Amazon's usual reminder of "people who bought this item also bought..." failed in this instance.

So, my bottom line is... buy the boat, but make sure you ALSO get the proper accessories.

5A Versatile Boat  Jul 10, 2006 By B. W. Holmes
The Challenger 400 is an excellent raft for both small and large rivers. With a shallow draft and high sides, it provides stable and secure transportation for one or two adults.

Being that the 400 series is no longer available in Canada, I recently purchased another through this web site. Unfortunately, a fifty dollar raft cost another fifty in shipping and fifty in duty (although my last one purchased domestically cost almost that off the shelf).

A fine choice in rafts, but anyone outside the U.S. should consider the additional costs prior to ordering.

5Inflatable boat review  Jul 04, 2007 By George L. Redheffer
This product was a superb buy and was awesome. There are two issues that you need to know on this product; 1. It weighs 30 lbs, uninflated, and you must own a backpack or pack big enough for this raft to fit into it. Also, when you add some other gear into your pack such as oars, fishing poles, a fishing vest that you are wearing, etc..., an in-shape adult must be packing this if you are in fact hiking into a mountain lake with this raft; 2. The description is 4-man raft, but the max was me and 3 kids in it, and even at that, it was a very tight fit. It will hold 2 adults and 1 kid comfortably. I would buy another one of these rafts today!

5We use this with our boat  Jan 29, 2007 By Sandra L. Robinson
It's great. Will fit 3 relatively large adults. Great product.

4Where bigger is better.  Jan 24, 2012 By Michael Kamentsev
In short it's a good light duty boat for 2 people, + a child. My friend got it onto rocks and tore it, or Truckee river (more of a creek where he killed the thing). He said that more tough boats fared fine in those "troubled" waters. His family was able to escape fine, since the boat has 3 or 4 different compartments to be inflated. I recommend this boat for leisure 4-5MPH rides, light duty fishing, or just to get into boating thing. Life vests are a must, and I would actually try a gas weed whacker with propeller attached to it with this boat :) it's got to work and must be fun, as crazy as it sounds!!! I used this boat on 5 occasions just fine in a 2 mile wide lake. Be careful with ores when assembling them not to brake them. I'd recommend an inflatable kayak if you are looking for exercise while on water. Inflating with manual or foot pump takes just a minute or two more than Coleman rechargeable pump which I highly recommend to get if you are into inflatables or go camping and hate mattress inflation routine.
This boat is safe enough on waves on passing by motor boats, and can be handled in 15-20MPH wind, but not higher. Using it at sea or on rough waters like my friend had a chance to find out is one bad idea. Have fun, get one of these with expectations adjusted accordingly (and yes, get the "weed whacking thing" propel your boat if manual labor is not your thing :)and be safe on the waves!!!
