I got this duffel bag to go on a simple canoe trip. This bag is NOT water tight/dry. The zipper assemble is the opposite of water tight/proof. On my trip we encountered a one foot wake/wave. The water barely came over the bow. Very little water in the canoe resulted in every item in the "deluxe DRY duffel gear bag" being soaked. No dry clothes for a week.
As long as the water does not meet the zipper, your stuff will be dry.
