Seattle Sports Kayak Bilge Pump Jun 10, 2010
By M. Harmon
"Retired Military Officer, Retired National Security Consultant"
Good product, but incomplete. This bilge pump lacks rubber inlet and outlet hoses. The inlet hose is needed to get into awkward areas where water puddles. The outlet hose would assure that the water stream will be pumped clear of the boat. This pump does seem sturdy and moves a lot of water. I guess I will go to the hardware store and try and find rubber hose that will fit. Disappointing that the manufacture left the job incomplete.

Great Pump, But Lacks 1-Inch Hose Jul 27, 2011
By Cactuswren This little pump is well constructed and really pumps the water well. I don't have a boat but wanted it for clearing sludge (you know, the thick black stuff at the bottom of little concrete ponds that looks like thick oil and smells worse). It works fine for that, and I pump plenty of clear water through it after each use. The only problem is that it picks up little rocks that have to be removed from the pipe. That takes little effort. When I received the pump, I was surprised that it did not have a 1-inch hose included. The description and specifications seem to conflict:
"Product Description
Amazon.com
An essential tool for every kayaker, the Paddlers Bilge Pump features a super-comfortable, easy-grip rubber overmolded handle and a high-visibility neon yellow stock for extra safety. Although not needed or included, a 1-inch internal diameter hose can be added to the output valve to route water away from your boat.
Features and Specifications:
Bilge pump with a comfortable, easy-grip rubber handle
High-visibility neon yellow stock for safety
Includes a 1 inch diameter hose that routes water away from boat
Height: 21 inches
Diamter: 1.75 inches
Weight: 12 ounces,"
Finding the hose for this pump is not an easy task either. I called a couple of the large building supply centers, and they did not have anything larger than 3/4 inch. I called a large hardware chain store and was told that it had the 1-inch size for $2.99 a foot. When I go there, I will find out if it really exists. If seller is not including this hose with the pump, then the description needs to be amended. Thank you.

Will certainly get most of the water out... Jul 31, 2011
By Graysand Works ok. Can never really get all the water out. Other reviewers have noted this may be due to the lack of rubber extension hose.
After a few times of use, the piston became noticably difficult to pull when pumping (ejects water on the upstroke).
WD-40'd it to make it a bit easier, but still kinda grips/grabs when pumping.
Not really a lot of fun to use, it's more exercise than re-entering after your wet-exit.
Dry thoroughly and WD-40 after use.
I found the following product to be just as efficient at emptying my yak, and is a few bucks cheaper, can be used in more situations, the stroke action is smoother, and is way more fun. (suck in water on upstroke, aim, eject at friends on downstroke :-) ):
Water Sports Tl - 750 Stream Machine - 24 and #8221, Barrel (Colors May Vary)

Pumps OK Apr 18, 2011
By Amazon Buyer 1234 Works OK. I wish the nozzle was skinnier so that it would get into the corners of my boat better. But, it will pump a good deal of water quickly. I use it on a 15 ft wooden boat.
