Gets me in the water fast Aug 22, 2010
By Cory Williams I really like all the pockets this thing has. I purchased an advanced frames air pump w/gauge to fill 'er up quickly, but the pressure gauge won't work with the size of the valves on this kayak. the three valves are easy to inflate; takes me 5 minutes to get her set up. It's made of solid material that's capable of being dragged up over steep banks. Two grip handles (1 in front/1 in back) make grabbing this thing out of the water an easy task.
Had a scary moment the other day when I went to situate my back rest...the rest caught onto the valve cover behind my back and popped it open. I was able to reach back behind me and close it off before losing too much air, but I don't know if that ordeal was my fault for not pushing the valve cover closed all the way or if it really is that easy to undo...afraid to recreate the situation. This is my first kayak so I can't compare it to hardshells. I like that I can carry this thing solo to the trunk of my car, and store it in my closet when finished. I don't need to have a 13 ft garage ceiling and accomodate the kayak; I stow and go. 4 stars for the air valve craziness in the middle of the lake. I put faith in the Sevylor's Quality control abilities..my seams were fine. I had no holes/punctures...
If you wondered, Colemans fastback and sevylors fastback are identical. Sevylor owns coleman, I think they both have their own "crowds" so instead of replacing one with the other the just adopted the design but kept their unique names.

Coleman/Sevylor Fastback Dec 06, 2010
By JBW I take this kayak out every weekend in the ocean about 1-3 miles out. Plenty of compartments and storage space, mine came with a generic camel back. Bottom is covered in PVC tarp so you can drag it along the shore. Great in ocean swells and wakes of larger boats because it flexes with waves instead of tipping over or rocking. I have never had a problem with it and I have used it 20+ times. Not as fast as a hard shelled kayak, but much faster to launch and load in the car, and has cargo netting etc... for much more storage for longer trips.

Nice but not perfect Aug 30, 2010
By Rob This is my second inflatable kayak, I tested it on a very large open lake yesterday. With any inflatable it picks up wind like crazy so going against the wind is a workout (which isnt always a bad thing) but my friend was paddling along side of me in one of my hard shells and could travel at least twice as fast at I could. I love all the compartments. There are so many places to put things including a water tight pouch in the front which is great for a cell phone or gps for long trips. One thing I found that I did not like is how the top of the boat sits on your legs causing it to get pretty hot inside. In cooler weather it probably would not be a big deal. Other than that it is great for lakes. I havent put it in a river yet but I'm sure it would be fine on slow flowing rivers and streams and even the ocean. I would not take this boat or any inflatable on rough rivers though.

Best Kayak I've had Jan 02, 2011
By baar nad Sevylor's Fastback Inflatable kayak is the best kayak I've ever used. I'm a boating instructor at a summer camp and this kayak destroys the hard body kayaks that we have there. I just recently purchased this item so there isn't much I can do in the water but I did take it out into the creek. Love it! it does pretty well in the water as long as your paddling but tends to turn when you stop(which happens with any kayak that doesn't have a rudder) and it is extremely easy to turn, it drifts sideways as you turn so it turns way faster. It is very easy to set up once you know how to do it, but the directions are horrible so it takes a little patience but the end result is totally worth it and like I said once toy figure it out its very quick and simple. The only drawbacks that I can see are very minor. The back valve isn't perfectly aligned with the cover which makes it somewhat difficult to get too (but not impossible, just deal with it) the bottom isn't very rigid and tends to push down where you're sitting and the ends to stick up and the leg room isn't that plentiful for me and I had to take out the foot rests. Now I'm 6'5" 230 so that's probably just me. and last the cover isn't super tight around the air bladders so it does look a bit like an old lady, so those who are all about how they look out on the water may be disappointed, but it doesn't stop the boat from working and it still looks pretty sweet. Last thing that I'm going to say is that the storage space in this thing is amazing! so much space to put your stuff so it's great for touring and it comes with two water bladders, one integrated.(I'm not sure how well it will work but I haven't had a chance to use it yet) So long review short if you're looking for a cheap, reliable kayak, look no further, this is for you.

Bought this for my wife who is a beginning whiteater enthusiast, used it on class 2 water and loved it. Had a leaking seam when I first inflated it, glued it and it's held fine.
