Great one person kayak/canoe Sep 06, 2011
By Happy Camper I purchased this kayak a couple of weeks ago. I was not certain I liked it at first, but after about 5 or 6 times using it I love it. It's very stable in the water and I feel safe in it. It does well in both rivers and lakes. On the lake the tracking is not as good as a solid kayak would be because this is an inflatable, but for me the portability makes up for that issue. It inflates with a hand pump in about 10 minutes or less. It deflates quickly and easily in less than 5 minutes, and it fits well in the trunk of my car. I feel I could take this canoe anywhere.
If you are looking for speed, then this product is probably not for you. If you enjoy a leisurely trip around the lake then you will probably enjoy this product. One issue is that it won't stay in one place long enough to get a good view of things with my binoculars or to take pictures. It tends to stay more stationary in calmer water, but it drifts with the wind. I have heard that a 1 lb. small anchor will help hold it in place if you want it to stay stationary, but I have not purchased an anchor yet to find out.
This is a fun one person canoe and I have enjoyed exploring small inlets in the lake where a boat can't go. I enjoy spotting the fish swimming beneath me on a sunny day. This small kayak holds my gear very well. The seat and everything else inside the canoe is detachable and adjustable. I have found the seat very comfortable, better than I would have expected for an inflatable. The canoe is sturdy and well designed. There are rubber knob attachments near the rear that would hold a Sevylor small motor mount if you wanted to attach a small 12 volt motor to the back of the canoe. I have not tried that yet, but I may purchase a small motor in the future for when I go out alone and want to get back to the shore faster, or if I want to motor upstream in a river after kayaking down.
Decent For The Price Aug 28, 2011
By Ryan McMann Pros: Solid when inflated. Plenty of storage for 1 person. Tough under side and fabric covering. Great handles for picking it up. Plenty of tie down points. Great for rivers with a good flow rate.
Cons: Not good in still water or wind. Some tie downs use plastic clips, I prefer aluminum. Not all the valves are boston valves, seems odd to use only two for this boat.
Reccomend: Kayak Paddle, Good Life Vest or Back-up Safety Float, Dry Storage Bag, Bilge Pump, After Market Skeg, Side Mount Trolling Motor - Use This If Going To The Lake, After Market Duffle Bag To Store It - The One Provided Is So So
Overall I am happy with the purchase. I read previous reviews so I knew what I was getting into with an inflatable versus a solid hull kayak or canoe. You just can't beat the portability of this thing.
