Great all around kayak, we love them Jul 26, 2009

My wife and I have had a pair of these kayaks for about three years, and we really like them. We have taken them in open wayer on the Jewrsey shore, on a tour of 1000 islands, and on rivers an lakes, they have always done their job. Nice protective fabric all around makes them tough, I highly reccommend

Great little Kayak Jun 29, 2009

I've owned a Stearns Spree One for almost a year and I can honestly say that it's a great little kayak. I've used it primarily for fishing and it has done great. I agree with the previous reviewer that it is not tall people friendly however it can definitely carry a lot of weight. I'm 5-10 and weigh 230 lbs and have had 2 fishing rods and about 40lbs of fish in the kayak in the open water with no problem. Although sometimes space was an issue so I upgraded to the Spree 2 person. It handles great with high mobility and turning capacity. Easy to inflate and maintain. The patch kit it comes with is great. I've had a few hooks put holes in my kayak but was easily able to patch it up with the included patch kit. Keep in mind that paddle and pump are sold separately.
I would definitely recommend the Stearns Spree One-Person Inflatable Kayak to anyone!

For the price very good Aug 12, 2008

I bought this kayak without checking the specs; very stupid of me since I'm 6'5" and don't fit into it and have ordered another, bigger one.
The good and the bad: Very easy to setup and pack up. Tracks very well in the water, you can stop on a dime and turn very easily. Great for short, 1-3 hours trips. Things to be aware of: Kayak is quite small so if you're over 6' you won't fit into it comfortably. Very little storage so only really good for short trips. Make sure that you have a pump with a pressure gauge; I got a hole in the inner tube which I believe was caused by over filling.
Summary: Great kayak for short trips and short people...pack up and stow in your trunk and you're ready to go anytime.
Another note: After purchasing the kayak online, I noticed a local store had a Stearns IK119 which looks identical to the Spree but is $100 cheaper.
