I've taken this boat on several rivers in Oregon and been quite happy. The bow lift is great (a little drier ride) and it is amazingly stable (you can sit on a side tube and not tip). It's a great choice for a beginner but you can really make it zip if you're a pro. My only quibble is that it's so stable, it doesn't tend to lean the same way as a hardshell. You are actually riding on two pontoons, rather than on a rounded floor floow so it takes a while to get used to doing eddy turns and peel outs.
